RICHMOND, Va. – Several homeless reduction organizations in the Valley are set to receive tens-to-hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant funding.

Governor Glenn Youngkin announced yesterday that the state will stroke a check totaling $227,000 for the Valley Community Services Board and its Rapid Rehousing youth program.

Mercy House in Augusta and Rockingham Counties will receive $150,000 for its trust fund, plus, another $55,000 for its Rapid Rehousing initiative.

The Shenandoah Alliance for Shelter will get $25,000, and the Valley’s AIDS Response Effort, Incorporated can expect $10,000 in funding.

It’s part of nearly $13 million distributed across the commonwealth, with the goal of boosting programs that effectively reduce homelessness.
