LEXINGTON, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater baseball took down Washington & Lee on the road by a score of 9-5 Tuesday night. The Eagles won 9-5 over Washington & Lee in another ODAC showdown.

Records: BCE (23-12-1 OVR, 13-6-1 ODAC), W&L (12-15 OVR, 6-14 ODAC)

How It Happened
• The early scoring boost to open the game gave the Eagles all they needed to comfortably find their zone and continue to steady the lead despite the sudden scoring burst by the Generals. A big fourth inning supplied the cushion for the lead with a six-run frame, leaving the score to stay at a healthy margin the rest of the way while holding off short scoring streaks from W&L.
• Bransen Hensley got BCE going with the first knock, scoring Nick Stavros on a triple. Next, Zack Chadwell helped Hensley cross home plate on a sacrifice fly. Ashton Smith then confidently rocketed a shot to left field for the RBI single getting Chadwell to come around to score for the opening 3-0 lead.
• W&L was stopped until the third inning when two runs came around with the help of a triple. However, BCE did not hesitate and scorched the zone in the fourth inning making solid contact throughout the lineup. Stavros began with a beat-out at first caused by a throwing error bringing both Bryce Suters and Jake Harris home to score for the steady 5-2 lead. Lucas Bauer then put together a solid at-bat with a bullet to right center field to help Stavros and Hensley score. Smith then fulfilled the job pounding a double down the left-field line, adding two more runs to the board from Bauer and Chadwell.
• With a strong 9-2 advantage, W&L was stripped of solid momentum to gain the deficit back. The Generals managed to pull out three more runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning, but the Eagles held tough and closed out the final scoring burst to take the game at 9-5.

Game Notes
• Ashton Smith carried out a strong performance at the plate going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a walk.
• Strong pitching took play at W&Ls ball field as Hunter Covill helped relieve Lucas Cash from 3.2 innings and three earned runs by turning in 2.1 innings, two strikeouts, and no run scored for his fourth win of the season.
• Lucas Bauer also posted a season high three hits on the day to move his season batting average to .287.
