MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (JMU Athletics) – West Virginia scored eight of its 11 runs in the first inning on Tuesday night, as James Madison baseball fell, 11-1, in an eight-inning run-rule affair at Kendrick Family Ballpark.

The Dukes dropped to 7-13 while the Mountaineers improved to 17-1.

Senior Ryan Dooley led the way at the plate with a 1-for-2 effort, adding an RBI and a walk. Freshman Tim Tyler started on the mound and went 0.1 innings with a strikeout.

How It Happened
First Inning
West Virginia jumped out to an early lead, scoring eight runs after sending 14 batters to the plate. The Mountaineers scored five consecutive runs, before earning a walk that proceeded a Grant Hussey three-run homer.

Third Inning
The Dukes got on the board after a run-scoring single from Dooley. Back-to-back walks to junior Maddux Fleck and senior Eli Steadman set up a runner in scoring position for Dooley to make it 8-1.

Sixth Inning
A bases loaded hit-by-pitch scored a run for WVU to make it 9-1 in its favor.

Seventh Inning
After leading off the inning with three walks, the Mountaineers used a sacrifice fly to put another run on the board and make it 10-1.

Eighth Inning
With runners on first and third, WVU ended the game with a single into right field to make it an 11-1 score.

Game Notes
• Redshirt freshman Holden McKinney tossed a career-high 3.1 innings pitched, scattering two hits and two strikeouts while giving up a run and four walks.
• Redshirt junior Tyler Muscar threw 2.1 innings and struck out four, setting career-highs in both.
• Junior Maddux Fleck extended his hit streak to five games.
