HARRISONBURG VA: (Rocktown Now) – Heat advisories remain in effect today for Rockingham County and areas south in the valley. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect from 10 AM to 8 PM today from Shenandoah County north, where dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110 can be expected.

The National Weather Service says the significant heat risk will linger through the weekend. Air temperatures in the 90s combined with the humidity may result in heat index values of 100 to 105 during the afternoon hours. Severe thunderstorms are possible particularly during the afternoon and evening hours today through Monday.
