GROTTOES, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater baseball took down Mary Baldwin, 13-1 on the road Tuesday.

Records: BCE (9-7-1), MBU (1-14)

How It Happened
• The Eagles jumped out to an early lead to start the game and with the strong arm on the mound from Lucas Cash, BCE managed to continue finding comfortable zones in at-bats and held firmly to the momentum the whole way through.
• In the first inning, Ashton Smith got the scoring going with a ripped single to score in Chandler Valbak and Bransen Hensley. Bryce Suters worked a sacrifice fly for Smith to tag up and tap home. At 3-0, the Eagles extended the lead with a one-run double by Valbak scoring Hensley. Soon after, Trent Holland waited patiently for the right pitch and then found it, cranking a far shot over the left-center field fence for the two-run homer.
• As the defense held strong, the offense continued to fire away. In the sixth inning, Smith cracked a double to clear the bases and send home Valbak, Nick Stavros, and Hensley. After a hit-by-pitch on Jake Harris, that allowed Smith to score. Then, Lucas Bauer smacked a double for the two-run knock bringing home Zack Chadwell and Holland. Hensley wrapped the scoring in the sixth to get a piece of one; enough to score in Harris at 13-0.
• MBU avoided the shutout by getting runner around on an error in the infield for the lone run on the day for the Fighting Squirrels.

Game Notes
• Lucas Cash shined for the Eagles on the mound delivering six innings pitched on seven strikeouts, two walks, a hit, and no runs. Cash earned his second win of the season.
• Offensively, Ashton Smith logged five RBIs while going 3-for-4 and scoring twice. Bransen Hensley also came around to score three runs.
• Trent Holland recorded his second homer of the season.
