HARRISONBURG, Va. – EMU played its first midweek home game on Tuesday, taking on Mary Baldwin at Royals field.
After giving up a pair of runs in the first, the Royals offense plated four in their half of the first and never looked back as they picked up a 9-2 win over the Fighting Squirrels.

Highlights
• MBU was able to plate two runs in the first off EMU starter Karson Jennings. A hit, error and wild pitch plated the first before a single, stolen base and a double plated run number two.

• EMU would respond in their half of the first, putting up a four spot. Logan Mason led off with a single and moved to second on Dylan Cassell’s sacrifice bunt. Ethan Spraker singled and then Spraker and Mason each had a stolen base, putting runners on second and third for Natty Solomon. Solomon reached on an error, plating Mason, before Cole Bashinski’s fielder’s choice scored Spraker. After a stolen base, Alec Riles laced a single to left field, plating two more and giving EMU the lead.

• After Jennings pitched a scoreless second, EMU added to their lead when Spraker singled, driving in Aidan Miller, and putting EMU up 5-2.

• The quartet of Brendon Barrett, Skylar Lacks, Colby Eidson and Trey Deane pitched stellar out of the bullpen, keeping MBU scoreless over the final seven innings. They gave up just six hits while striking out eight.

• EMU was able to tack on four more runs, with Forrest Shuey driving in a run in the fifth, Riles and Miller with RBI in the seventh and Cassell scoring on an scoring on an error in the eighth.
