The entirety of the Mountain State is under a state of emergency following yesterday’s flooding and mudslides.
Governor Jim Justice announced last evening that all 55 counties in West Virginia are subject to the order, which activates the state’s Emergency Operations Plan.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy thunderstorms and high winds raged across West Virginia yesterday. Local reporting says some creeks and streams have jumped their banks resulting in road closures. Mudslides have also blocked roadways across the state.
The State of Emergency is effective for 30 days, unless it’s ended earlier by the governor.
