ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Rockingham County School Board has approved a solution for capacity issues at two elementary schools.
At last night’s meeting, a Capital Project Support in the amount of approximately 13.5 million dollars was approved for an addition at Pleasant Valley Elementary and renovations at McGaheysville Elementary.
Superintendent Dr. Larry Shifflett says Pleasant Valley is the most critical project and wants to get started as soon as possible. “They would start with the design phase, get in with the architects, go through the process, and then we would send out the bids and then it would come back here for you to approve,” he told the board.
Dr. Shifflett says the additions will increase the capacity for both schools by 500 students.
