WASHINGTON, D.C. (Rocktown Now) – The Harrisonburg man who was convicted on charges related to the January 6th, 2021, riots at the U.S. Capitol has been sentenced to 15 months in prison.
Jay Matthew Kenyon also received two years of supervised probation upon release and was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution by U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson during a hearing on Friday.
According to court documents and evidence presented during the trial, the 47-year-old Kenyon was captured on U.S. Capitol building surveillance footage entering the building at around 2:30 in the afternoon via the Upper West Terrace Door.
He then joined a crowd of rioters outside of the House Chamber as the crowd chanted and pushed against the doors.
Kenyon was arrested on February 28th, 2023, in Harrisonburg.
