SAN JUAN, P.R. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College women’s basketball team took down SUNY Oneonta 53-37 thanks to a big second half.

Score: Bridgewater 53, SUNY Oneonta 37
Records: Bridgewater 10-1, SUNY Oneonta 4-5

How It Happened
• Both defenses were locked in over the opening 4:20 as the game remained scoreless until the Dragons got on the board with a second-chance effort. It took until after the media timeout for BC to get on the board as My’la Green made a pair of attempts at the charity stripe. The Eagles got some help from an old-school three-point play by Jaden Alsberry and a jumper from Riley Corcoran to take the lead at 7-2. Oneonta replied towards the end of the frame to send it to the end of the opening stanza at a 7-4 Bridgewater edge.
• The Dragons struck first in the second frame, but an India Dailey three-pointer started what became an 11-2 BC run to blow the game open to an 18-8 advantage for the Eagles thanks to the senior and Jaiden Polston. Oneonta scored out of the media stoppage but free throws from Dailey and Alsberry pushed the edge out to 11 points. Oneonta didn’t go down easy as the Dragons held BC scoreless for the final three minutes of the half and embarked on a 7-0 run that featured their first make from deep after opening the half 0-for-10 from long range. BC led 21-17 at the intermission.
• The Eagles opened the third quarter with six-straight points with a bucket each from Alsberry, Corcoran and Jay Garcia to push the lead back to double figures. The Dragons replied with four makes at the free throw line, but a layup and a three-pointer by Garcia moved the gap out to 32-21. Oneonta nailed a three-pointer in response and closed back to within six points with 2:31 to go in the frame, but a pair of makes at the line by Polston and an Alsberry bucket made it 38-27 heading to the final quarter.
• Each side scored a bucket to open the fourth quarter, but an Autumn Gentry jumper on a dish from Polston sparked a run that turned the game on its head. The Eagles went on a 9-2 run and held the Dragons without a field goal for over four minutes, a trademark of the Stephanie Flamini defense. In the process, Dailey added four points and Garcia tossed in three to make it 49-31 with 4:38 to play. Oneonta ended the drought, but Dailey found Garcia open from long range and the junior nailed the three-pointer to stretch the lead to 19 points. The Dragons closed the game on a 4-1 stretch, but the damage had already been done.
