VERONA, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Perdue Farms announced that they are donating 400,000 pounds of “no antibiotics” chicken to 10 food banks along the East Coast and one of the beneficiaries is the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
Dave Kraft is the Chief Operating Officer for Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and he says the Verona-based company is getting 40,000 lbs. of that poultry.
“We will inventory after we make sure that the product arrives safely,” Kraft said. “We will inventory it and then we, in turn, will turn around and distribute it through our partners and programs to our guests.”
The donations are a part of Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month, which is a nationwide effort to raise awareness about hunger in America and inspire action.
