HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Eastern Mennonite University Chamber Singers received some big news this week as they were chosen to represent North America at the 500th anniversary of the Anabaptism celebration in Zurich, Switzerland, next May.
EMU Assistant Professor of Music Benjamin Bergey said on the Mike Schikman Show Thursday that this is truly an honor.
“This is a pretty big deal for us,” Bergey said. “Especially because we’re a small university so stuff like this doesn’t happen too often, and so everybody’s really excited about it.”
The Chamber Singers are having a Hymnal sing-through this weekend to raise funds for next year’s trip.
It will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and beginning at noon on Sunday at Martin Chapel in the EMU Seminary Building.
The cost is free but donations are encouraged.
