Charlene Sensibaugh, 92, of Harrisonburg, VA died August 29, 2024, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center where she had resided since 2010.

Charlene was born May 24, 1932 to Martin Pinckney and Ethel Moats Cross. She spent her early years in the Tenleytown area of Washington, D.C. and the Arlington area. She worked as a receptionist in her early adult years. She married George T. Sensibaugh on August 27, 1967. They moved to the Elkton area where they lived until his death in September 1986.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Martin P. Cross. Charlene was the last surviving member of her family and had no other known relatives. She is survived by Lois Wenger, her friend and guardian since 2006.

“Charlene Girl” is fondly remembered for her unique personality and humor, as well as her colorful language, strong opinions, and her love of brightly colored clothes (purple, pink, and green), pedicures, having her hair styled, horse pictures, and all things chocolate, especially ice cream. Charlene knew what she liked and didn’t like, and didn’t hesitate to express herself. She had a way of eliciting smiles from those around her regardless of her behavior.

Burial of her and George’s ashes will be held privately at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens on North Valley Pike.
