HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Rocktown High School is set to open its doors for the first time next week and school officials are putting in the final touches.

Principal Tamara Mines explained during a media tour this morning that they are still finishing some furniture.

“Our enrollment is growing daily because as families move into Harrisonburg and kids are registering for class, enrollment is ticking upwards,” Mines said. “However, that will give us an opportunity to purchase more flexible furniture that can be used to help students.”

Mines added that school officials have been working with the Harrisonburg Police Department to address traffic on South Main Street on normal day as well as on heavy days because of an incident on Interstate 81.

Students in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County return to class on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
