Darrell “Nappy” Louis Slye, 68, of Harrisonburg, departed this life on Sunday, August 11, 2024. Mr. Slye was born May 28, 1956 to the late Louis Marcus Slye and Rose Mary Sipe Slye of Elkton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Faron Ray Slye and a nephew, Eric Keith Baugher.

Darrell was a graduate of Elkton High School. He worked for MH Mason & Associates and was a member of the Moose and the Eagles 4150, Harrisonburg Amvets Post 7.

During his lifetime, Darrell loved riding back roads and listening to music, fishing with his kids and enjoying the mountains. He was also a lifelong Redskins fan.

Darrell truly loved his family and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Darrell is survived by his son, Matthew Scott Slye; daughter, Amber Richelle Slye Keesee; grandchildren, Cody Wayne Hensley and wife, Gemma, Trinity Celeste Herring; great-grandchildren, Basil Rose Hensley and Charlotte Jean Hensley.

He is also survived by companion, Dianne High; her daughter, Christie High; granddaughter, Adriana High; siblings, Tammy Riel and husband, Rich, Stacy Baugher, Patti Hensley and husband, Jeff; numerous nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, “Jasper”.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2024, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with Pastor Carter Dean officiating. Burial to follow at Elk Run Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2024 at the funeral home.
