HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – Behind junior Fenwick Trimble’s two homers, James Madison baseball won its 23rd home game of the season to set the record for the most in a season at Veterans Memorial Park as it beat Marshall, 5-3, on Saturday morning to secure the series win.

The Dukes improved to 30-19 overall and 15-11 in Sun Belt Conference action, marking the first time the Dukes have had back-to-back 30-win seasons and back-to-back 15-league win seasons since 2010-11. The 23 home wins are also the most since 2006 and are tied for ninth-most in a season. The Thundering Herd fell to 16-34, 8-18 Sun Belt.

In addition to his two homers, Trimble recorded two runs scored and four RBI’s while going 2-for-4. Redshirt senior Hunter Entsminger earned his third win of the season with a season-high 3.2 innings in relief and two strikeouts. Senior Joe Vogatsky earned his eighth save of the season, tied for the fourth most in a single-season at JMU.

How It Happened
Third Inning
JMU struck for four runs in the third, with graduate Brendan O’Donnell being singled in by junior Ryan Dooley before Trimble unloaded on his first homer of the day for three runs and a 4-0 lead. Fourth Inning
After putting the first two runners on, Marshall utilized a double to bring home their first run. A groundout two batters later scored another and an RBI triple afterwards made it a one-run game at 4-3.

Fifth Inning
Trimble recorded his second career multi-homer game as he lined a solo shot over the left field wall for his 13th homer of the season and 33rd of his career. The center fielder moved into a tie for 10th place on the JMU career home runs list. He also increased his RBI’s total for the season to 53, the most a Duke has recorded since 2013.
