Bridgewater College will rededicate its renovated Bowman Hall on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, as part of the College’s 2024 Homecoming.

School Principal Norris Bunn said at Tuesday night’s Harrisonburg City School Board meeting that they were honored by the selection and he explained what that the selection means for the school.

Plans for the panel were announced at the Harrisonburg City School Board meeting Tuesday night. It will be an opportunity to answer questions for HCPS parents regarding school safety following social media threats against the school division last month.

The exhibition, “Find Yourself in the 1970s: Snapshots of Life at Bridgewater College,” will include archival photographs, artifacts and interpretive text telling the story of BC student life in the ’70s.

The Beekhuis Award recognizes an affiliated Center for Economic Education in the CEE network for outstanding performance in working with teachers and delivering high-quality programs and community outreach.

In this year’s rankings, U.S. News recognized Bridgewater as a top performer on social mobility and a Best National Liberal Arts College. Similarly, Washington Monthly ranked Bridgewater on its Best Liberal Arts College and Best Bang for the Buck in the Southeast lists. The Princeton Review recognized Bridgewater as one of its Best Mid-Atlantic Regional Colleges.

Miyares graduated from JMU in 1998 with a bachelor’s in business administration before earning a law degree from William & Mary. He was elected the 48th Attorney General of Virginia in November 2021.

Despite the Content Review Committee’s recommendation to retain the book, the school board voted four-to-one to remove ‘The Art of Racing in the Rain’ by Garth Stein.

In light of the recent threats in local schools and around the country, Rockingham County School officials are assuring everyone that they are working diligently to protect all students and employees.

This threat is being deemed as not credible and no students nor staff are in danger.
