Beau Dickenson has been named the 2025 Mel Miller Outstanding Social Studies Leader of the year by the National Social Studies Leaders Association.

The $10,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Health to support efforts aimed at strengthening public health and emergency response capabilities.

According to Erin Chandler with UVA Health Children’s Hospital, the fundraiser surpassed the mark in the final hour, raising $25,632.
