WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — An area woman was arrested this week on multiple forgery related charges in the City of Waynesboro.

On April 21st, Captain Benjamin Lemons said authorities began investigating reports of suspected fraud after several checks from a stolen checkbook were cashed within the city.

“The Officer’s investigation, along with information from the victim and their financial institution, revealed that Brittany B. Griffith, 36, of Waynesboro, allegedly used several of the victim’s checks without their permission to fraudulently obtain more than $1,000.”

On Sunday, April 26th, Griffith was taken into custody on six felony county of Forgery and Uttering and four counts of Obtaining False Pretenses.

She has since been released on bond from Middle River Regional Jail pending her July 14th appearance in General District Court.
