WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — The City of Waynesboro will host a community open house Wednesday, October 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fairfax Hall, 1101 Reservoir Street, Waynesboro, to gather public comment to inform the city’s ongoing Comprehensive Plan update, called Waynesboro Together. This event marks the fourth community meeting.

The Waynesboro Together plan will reportedly shape city policies and inform local decision-making over the next 20 years. It will include a renewed vision for Waynesboro and inform local elected officials about issues that affect citizens’ daily lives.

“To create the best possible plan, one that best represents the desires and needs of residents, property owners, and stakeholders, the city needs input from as many residents as possible,” said Alisande Tombarge, City Planner. “I encourage everyone to come out and tell us what they think on the 28th.”

The October 28 meeting is open to everyone, and participants may arrive anytime within the three-hour window. The meeting will include informational posters and multiple interactive stations. Participants in the event will help finalize Waynesboro’s future development patterns, set priorities, and review draft elements of the plan.

“Whether you have been involved in the Comprehensive Plan Update process from the beginning, or joining in for the first time, please come out to the open house and provide your input” added Leslie Tate, Director of Community Development. “As we aim for an early 2027 plan adoption, now is a critical time to review material, provide prioritization rankings, and give your thoughts and ideas to what has been formulated so far. It is not too late, but rather the perfect time to share your feedback.”

Community and stakeholder engagement efforts will continue into the fall, with staff attending local festivals and events to gather additional feedback. A community survey will give the public opportunities to set priorities, and a draft plan will be posted online after the new year.
