WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Waynesboro man who was arrested last October for allegedly assaulting several police officers will spend a year in jail.
According to online records, Jerry Lee Ashby pleaded guilty to two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer during a hearing Thursday morning in Waynesboro Circuit Court.
A judge then sentenced the 32-year-old Ashby to six years in jail with five of those years suspended.
He was also forced to pay over 23-hundred dollars in costs and will serve three years of supervised probation upon his release.
Ashby was arrested in connection with an incident last October 19th in the 100 block of Lucy Lane.
Officers reported that they found him possibly intoxicated and when they tried to speak to him, he became uncooperative and allegedly assaulted them before he was finally apprehended.
