WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Waynesboro man is in custody following an alleged kidnapping incident.

Last Sunday evening, June 21, 2026, Police Captain Benjamin Lemons said an individual reported an assault, allegedly involving Oscar Antonio Orea Lopez taking the individual to an unknown location outside of the city against their will.

During the investigation, officers were told that the 25-year-old Lopez had choked and hit the victim to the point of hospitalization.

Lopez reportedly forced the victim to travel with him to multiple locations through threats with a weapon and continued assaults before ultimately returning the individual to Waynesboro.

On Wednesday, Lopez was arrested on multiple charges including one Felony count of Abduction and Kidnapping and one count of Assault and Battery. 

Lopez is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
