ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Virginia State Police is investigating a collision that occurred Thursday in Rockingham County.
Spokesman Matt Demlein reports that the incident began with a 2011 Suzuki Equator pickup truck and a 2026 Telsa Model-Y both travelling eastbound on Spotswood Trail, near the intersection with McGaheysville Road at around 12:15 Thursday afternoon.
“The Tesla slowed for an upcoming traffic signal and was struck by the pickup.” Demlein said. “The Tesla spun out into the intersection, while the pickup ran off the right side of the road, went up an embankment, and struck a tree.”
The driver of the pickup suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Demlein says charges are pending, and the crash remains under investigation.
