DOSWELL, VA (Rocktown Now) — The State Fair of Virginia, in partnership with Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co., is accepting nominations for the second annual Virginia Veteran Farmer Recognition Award, which honors military veterans who have made significant contributions to agriculture after their service.
The award recognizes Virginia veterans who transitioned into farming or returned to agriculture following their military careers, celebrating their resilience, dedication and lasting impact on the state’s farming community.
“The contest seeks to celebrate veterans’ resilience, dedication and the unique perspectives they bring to agriculture,” said Marlene Jolliffe, executive director of the State Fair of Virginia. “The State Fair of Virginia Veteran Farmer Recognition Award is an opportunity to honor the stories of veterans who have found purpose and fulfillment in farming. By sharing their experiences, we can inspire others and foster a greater understanding of the challenges and triumphs faced by those who have served our country.”
Nominations may be submitted by family members, friends and community members who wish to recognize a deserving veteran farmer for their commitment to both military service and Virginia agriculture.
