HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The clock is ticking for senior or disabled residents of Harrisonburg to apply for special tax relief this year.

Folks in the Friendly City who are at least 65 years old or suffer from a permanent disability have until close-of-business on Wednesday to submit an application to the Commissioner of Revenue.

Under city ordinance, these residents are eligible for real estate or personal property tax relief – if their income for the previous year was less than 50-thousand dollars the previous year, and their total net worth is no more than 100-thousand dollars.
