AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle that occurred Thursday, September 17, at approximately 8:09 p.m. on Mount Torrey Road in Augusta County.

Spokesman Matt Demlein says the preliminary investigation indicates that a motorcycle travelling in the 3100 block of Mount Torrey Road lost control, went off the right side of the road, and struck an embankment.

The driver, Jesse B. Gorman, 48, of Stuarts Draft, Va., died at the scene.  He was wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.
