HARRISONBURG VA: (Rocktown Now) – Rain moves into the Shenandoah Valley tonight into Saturday as a Mid‑Atlantic low lifts northeast. The Valley should see steady overnight rain with lighter totals than areas closer to the Chesapeake, followed by a late‑morning lull under persistent low clouds. Another batch of showers and thunderstorms approaches the Appalachians Saturday evening and may drift east of the Blue Ridge overnight into early Sunday.
A cold front crosses the region Sunday morning, shifting winds northwest and bringing drier air. A few lingering showers are possible, but the overall trend is clearing and drying through the day. Early next week turns cooler and much less humid, with highs in the low 70s to mid‑80s Monday and Tuesday as high pressure settles over West Virginia.
Late next week, an upper‑level disturbance increases lift across the Mid‑Atlantic. Depending on the track of a developing surface low, tropical moisture could reach the Valley, raising shower and thunderstorm chances Thursday. Heat and humidity return as well, with temperatures climbing back into the 80s and 90s.
