STAUNTON, VA (Virginia Department of Transportation) — Part of Route 256 (Weyers Cave Road) in Augusta County will be closed for railroad crossing maintenance from 6 p.m. Friday, September 19, through about 8 a.m. Sunday, September 21. The location is between Route 276/750 (Keezletown Road) and Route 2003 (Wayside Drive) at Weyers Cave.
During the closure, through traffic on Route 256 will detour as follows:
- Drivers west of the crossing (Interstate 81 side) will go south on Route 11 (Lee Highway), then east and north on Route 750 to return to Route 256.
- Drivers east of the crossing (Weyers Cave side) will go south and west on Route 750, then north on Route 11 (Lee Highway) to return to Route 256.
