CHESTER, VA (Rocktown Now) — Nine volunteer fire departments in the Shenandoah Valley will receive grants from the NiSource Charitable Foundation.
That’s according to an announcement by partner Columbia Gas of Virginia, stating that a total of 20 fire departments across the Commonwealth will receive funding to help bolster their mission to keep communities safe.
Spokesperson Stephanie Benson says that strong relationships with local fire departments across Virginia are to be valued.
“We truly value our strong relationships with local volunteer fire departments all across Virginia. They are a key partner for us when it comes to natural gas safety and emergency response,” said Benson. “We’re proud to provide these grants to support their hard work, commitment, dedication and day-to-day operations.”
Fire departments that received the $1,500 grants include Augusta County Fire and Rescue, and volunteer companies from Stuarts Draft, Verona, and Dooms.
