HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – Guard Regina Walton will join the James Madison women’s basketball program for the 2025-26 season, as announced by Head Coach Sean O’Regan on Monday.

Walton spent the previous three seasons at Elon where she played in 62 games with nine starts while averaging 2.2 points and 1.2 assists per contest. The Capitol Heights, Md. native was named the 2020-21 Gatorade Player of the Year for the State of Maryland after posting 15 points, 3.7 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game at Elizabeth Seton High School.

“We’re really glad we were able to bring Regina into our program,” said O’Regan. “I’ve known her for a long time and she’s a wonderful person, as well as a player. She fit exactly what we needed and I’m excited for her to join the family.”

2024-25 at Elon:
• Played in 27 games
• Averaged 1.1 points and 0.7 assists in 8.3 minutes per game off the bench
• Scored a season-high five points at Marshall (11/13)
• Posted season highs of four rebounds, three assists and one block against Lees-McRae (12/31)
• Matched her career-high with two steals versus Towson (3/13)

2023-24 at Elon:
• Played in 30 games, making 17 starts
• Averaged 4.4 points and 2.2 assists in 23.1 minutes per game
• Finished second on the team in assists (67) and assists per game (2.2)
• Scored a career-high 11 points against high Point (12/30), William & Mary (2/23) and Hofstra (3/7)
• Knocked down 3-of-3 from behind the arc in a 74-62 win against Hofstra (3/7)
• Grabbed a personal-best seven rebounds at Gardner-Webb (11/11)
• Dished out a career-high seven assists versus UNCW (2/11)

2022-23 at Elon:
• Played in 20 games
• Averaged 1.6 points and 0.6 assists in 8.8 minutes per game off the bench
• Scored a season-high seven points at Wake Forest (11/7)
• Registered three assists and tied her career high of two assists at Davidson

High School:
• Four-year varsity player at Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg, Md. under Head Coach David Bell
• 2020-21 Gatorade Player of the Year for the State of Maryland
• Averaged 15 points, 3.7 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals as a junior in 2020-2021
• First-Team All-WCAC selection in 2021-22
• 2021 Art Turner Memorial Tournament MVP
• Nike Tournament of Champions all-tournament team (2019-20)

Walton joins transfers Kylie Marshall (SMU) and Bri McLeod (SMU) in addition to November signees Delilah Soltys, Jemma Eleby and Grace McDonough.
