ARLINGTON, Va. (JMU Athletics) – In its final midweek game of the season, James Madison baseball fell in 10 innings to George Washington, 5-4, on Tuesday afternoon at Barcroft Park.

The Dukes fell to 20-27 while the Revolutionaries snapped an seven-game skid to improve to 18-29.

Junior Josiah Seguin led the Dukes at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a homer, a run scored and two RBI. The three hits tie a career best for him and it is the 10th time he has recorded three hits in a game.

How It Happened
First Inning
The Dukes were patient to begin the game, walking the bases loaded on 12 consecutive pitches. Junior Josiah Seguin singled in the first run to put JMU on the board and redshirt sophomore Clay Thompson followed with his own single to bring in two more runs for a 3-0 lead.

Second Inning
George Washington scored an unearned run after a two-base error to the lead-off runner opened the opportunity to drive in a run on a single.

Seventh Inning
Seguin regained JMU’s three-run lead, hitting his seventh homer of the season over the right field wall to make the score 4-1.

Eighth Inning
After the first two batters were retired, the Revs followed with a double, a walk, a double and a single to tie the game. The second double scored two runs to make it a one-run game at the time.

10th Inning
GW put the first two runners on with a single and a hit by pitch and both runners were then moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. The Dukes then brought in an extra infielder before recording a strikeout, but a fielding error the next at bat allowed the Revs to walk off with a 5-4 win.

Game Notes
• Small ball continues to be a force for the Dukes, now boasting 59 sacrifice hits and 132 stolen bases this season which respectively rank first and tied for fourth in a single season in program history.
• Luke McGrath made his first career start on the mound and tossed a career-high-tying two innings.
• The Dukes moved to 3-2 in extra-inning games and 1-2 on walk-off games this season
