HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — City of Harrisonburg is set to unveil a new initiative this weekend to help residents in the city and Rockingham County can stay informed about emergencies in their neighborhood.
“Neighbors in the Know” begins Sunday, and Harrisonburg Police Department’s Juliana McGrath tells Rocktown Now that the initiative is a city-wide effort to encourage residents to sign up for emergency alerts.
“Our emergency alert system is how we alert residents and people who work and visit here about pertinent public safety information. Whether it be a shelter-in-place order, a severe weather notification, or any other city-wide emergency, you will get a text, email, or phone call directly to your cellphone, computer, or whatever you prefer.”
