HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg School Superintendent Dr. Michael Richards began a discussion with the school board about student screen time during last night’s meeting.
Dr. Richards said providing chrome books for all students is equitable in the sense that students don’t feel singled out and have one-to-one. But it’s being questioned now.
“I’m starting the conversation like this because I don’t want it to be simplified, overly simplified. I think in education we have this pendular problem where it goes from one side to the other, right? I don’t like that,” said Dr. Richards.
Dr. Richards continued by saying the discussion needs to be somewhere in the middle where we’re talking about the advantages of it, the equity issues involved, the disadvantages and dangers.
