HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Local police departments are participating in Virginia’s Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run today.

This morning, Harrisonburg Police officers carried the “Flame of Hope” through downtown Harrisonburg on its way to the opening ceremonies tomorrow in Richmond.

According to authorities, the torch will now make its way through Main Street in Waynesboro between the hours of 1 and 4 this afternoon.

Over 97-thousand law enforcement members carry the “Flame of Hope” annually.

The Virginia Special Olympics says the blazing torch symbolizes courage and the celebration of diversity uniting communities around the world.
