HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — An update was provided for the Harrisonburg City School’s Fiscal Year 2026 Budget during last night’s work session.
Executive Director of Finance Daniel Kirwan said there are two areas in the budget: State and Federal revenue.
Some of the State revenue is based on enrollment, which decreased near the end of the year.
“But there is a possibility if we stayed at the current rate of decrease in enrollment that we would be looking at $800,000 to $1,000,000 potential impact,” said Kirwan. “So it’s about $8,800 per student.”
Enrollment data is not monitored over the summer except for kindergarten, which is currently up.
In terms of Federal revenue, the removal of Title 3 and portions of Title 2 and 4 could have an impact.
