STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) – Visitors are invited to explore the craftsmanship behind everyday life during Historic Trades Day at the Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia on Saturday, August 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Throughout the day, expert artisans will demonstrate traditional trades that were essential to homes, farms, and communities for generations. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch skilled craftspeople at work, learn about the tools and techniques they use, and gain a deeper appreciation for the knowledge required to create handcrafted objects before modern manufacturing.
From blacksmithing and coopering to other traditional crafts, Historic Trades Day reportedly highlights the skill, precision, and experience behind objects that were once part of daily life. Guests are encouraged to talk with the artisans, ask questions, and observe demonstrations throughout the Museum.
“Historic Trades Day offers visitors a wonderful opportunity to learn directly from experienced artisans while gaining a greater understanding of the craftsmanship that supported everyday life,” said Shannon Sankar, owner of Standout Arts, LLC, marketing agency of record for the Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia. “These demonstrations provide valuable insight into traditional trades and inspire an appreciation for the remarkable skill, ingenuity, and knowledge behind handcrafted work.”
In addition to demonstrations, visitors will have the opportunity to explore a variety of handcrafted items created using traditional methods.
Historic Trades Day is included with general admission and the Annual Pass Program.
