ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Crews from Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Company, Harrisonburg Fire Department, Hose Company #4, Rockingham County Fire & Rescue, Bridgewater Volunteer Rescue Squad & Harrisonburg Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to a massive barn fire Wednesday afternoon in Dayton.

Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Company officials say they were dispatched shortly before 5:30 to a reported barn on fire near the intersection of Main Street and Eberly Road in Dayton. While crews were responding the address was updated to be in the 400 block of Main Street in Dayton.

The barn is owned by Lewis Knicely.

The response caused road closures in the area of Main Street and John Wayland Highway.

Officials say crews will remain working for an undetermined amount of time.
