HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — A federal judge in Harrisonburg has thrown out a 2024 asset sale by Nexus Services and cleared several of the company’s principals of civil contempt.
Chief US District Judge Elizabeth Dillon issued the order yesterday in the latest turn in a long-running case brought by the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, along with the attorneys general of Virginia, New York, and Massachusetts.
Back in March, the judge held Nexus Services, Libre by Nexus, and several individuals in contempt over an April 2024 deal that sold company assets to a firm called Libre Immigration Services.
The court found that the sale violated an earlier judgment barring the transfer of customer information and collection rights.
