SWEET BRIAR, Va. (EMU Athletics) – EMU and Sweet Briar came into Wednesday night’s game winless on the season…so something had to give.

60 minutes wasn’t enough to decide the game, so in OT, in the 66th minute, SBC’s Haley Littlefield was able to find the back of the cage to propel the Vixens to a 2-1 win over the Royals.

Records: EMU 0-12, 0-5 ODAC | Sweet Briar 1-12, 1-5 ODAC

Highlights
• Teresa Green came up big for EMU in the opening frame, picking up five saves, along with a defensive save from Shay Gough. But Sweet Briar was able to score at the 7:31 mark and take a 1-0 lead after one.
• The Royals defense held strong in the second, with Green adding three more saves and Gough tacking on another defensive save, to keep the Vixens scoreless. Camryn Lohr had EMU’s shot on goal in the 25th minute, but it was turned away by the SBC keeper, as Sweet Briar led 1-0 at the half.
• Lohr added another shot on goal in the 40th minute, which was saved. But as they say, the third time’s the charm as Lohr took a pass from Aarin McIntosh and found the back of the cage, knotting things at one apiece. Kaylin Ozuna tried to break the scoreless tie late in the quarter on an EMU penalty corner, but it was saved by the Vixens keeper.
• Green continued to rack up the saves, holding SBC scoreless with two more saves in the fourth. But unfortunately, EMU’s offense wasn’t able to break the stalemate, as the game went to OT. In the extra frame, Green came up with two more big saves before Sweet Briar walked it off with their goal in the 66th minute.
