WEYERS CAVE, VA (Rocktown Now) — Delegate Chris Runion has been appointed by Speaker of the House, Don Scott, to serve on the Virginia Rural Health Care Workforce Commission.
The Commission studies and advances strategies to strengthen the health care workforce in rural communities, improve access to care, and support long‑term solutions that address the unique challenges facing rural regions.
Delegate Runion expressed his appreciation for the appointment and emphasized the importance of ensuring that rural Virginians have access to quality health care close to home.
“It is my privilege and honor to serve on the Virginia Rural Health Care Workforce Commission and to represent rural Virginia in this way,” Delegate Runion said. “Our rural communities deserve strong, reliable access to health care, and I look forward to working with the Commission to support the providers and professionals who make that possible.”
The Virginia Rural Health Care Workforce Commission focuses on identifying workforce shortages, supporting recruitment and retention efforts, and strengthening partnerships between educational institutions, health systems, and community organizations. Its work helps guide policy recommendations to improve health outcomes and ensure that rural communities have the resources they need.
