STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — City of Staunton offices and facilities schedules will be modified in observance of Juneteenth on Friday, June 19.

Trash Collection

Residential: Residential trash regularly scheduled for pickup on Friday, June 19, will be collected on Wednesday, June 17.

Downtown Central Business District: CBD customers will receive trash collection on Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 18. There will be no collection on Friday, June 19, with normal pickup resuming Saturday, June 20.

Recycling Center Hours
The Recycling Center will be closed Friday, June 19, and will reopen with regular hours on Saturday, June 20.

Library Hours
The Staunton Public Library will be closed Friday, June 19, and will return to its normal schedule on Saturday, June 20. The outdoor book drop will be open for returns, and digital books and other online resources are available 24/7 at www.StauntonLibrary.org.

Parks & Recreation
The main offices of Parks and Recreation, located at Montgomery Hall Park, will be closed on Friday, June 19. Summer camps will be closed; however, pools at both Montgomery Hall Park and Gypsy Hill Park will be open regular hours. For additional information, visit www.staunton.va.us/pools.

Shop and Dine Out in Downtown
Beverley Street will close early for Shop and Dine Out in Downtown ahead of the Juneteenth holiday. The street will close beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 18 and will reopen at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22.

Important Parking Notice:This early closure is an exception to the street signs restricting parking on Fridays. All vehicles must be cleared from Beverley Street (between Lewis & Market Streets) by 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 18 to avoid towing.

Administrative Office Hours
The City of Staunton’s administrative offices will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Real Estate Taxes Due
The Treasurer’s Office will be closed on Friday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth, and in-person payment will not be available. Because the traditional June 20 deadline falls on a weekend, the first installment of real estate taxes can be paid without penalty through Monday, June 22. Payments can be made online, by phone, mail, via the City Hall drop box, or in person at the Treasurer’s Office when it reopens on June 22.
