MOUNT CRAWFORD, Va. – With ongoing construction of Buc-ee’s near the Mount Crawford exit off of Interstate 81, questions about other entities considering locating near the mega travel center have been abound.
So far, Assistant Rockingham County Administrator Casey Armstrong hasn’t heard any inquiries from franchises or other developers regarding the site. However, he does expect those calls in the near future, as he told WSVA News’ Jim Britt on Tuesday’s Early Mornings show.
“Buc-ee’s is going to draw an estimated 6000 vehicles a day,” Armstrong said. “And there are people, if that’s the stopping point of their trip, who might want to stay in a hotel at that stopping point. So it feels like that could happen.”
Buc-ee’s is expected to open sometime next year. Incidentally, Sheetz is also constructing a convenience store at that exit.
