How It Happened
• Bridgewater created opportunities early, with Kevin Polanco forcing a save from Miles Furman in the fifth minute and Luis Ibanez testing the goalkeeper in the 11th. Washington and Lee threatened when Anthony Careccia struck the right post in the 15th minute before Ricardo Sanchez scored an unassisted goal in the 18th to put the Generals ahead.
• Kowalski denied Careccia in the 22nd minute, and the Eagles defended four Washington and Lee corners over a four-minute stretch to keep the deficit at one. Queen forced another save in the 29th as Bridgewater searched for an equalizer amid increasingly frequent whistles.
• The physical battle continued through the remainder of the half, with Polanco receiving a yellow card in the 31st minute and Leyden Mongold cautioned in the 44th. The teams combined for 15 first-half fouls, but the Eagles kept generating chances through Queen and Trey Widrick. BC entered halftime trailing 1-0 despite an 8-7 edge in shots.
• The intensity carried into the second half, with Sanchez receiving a caution in the 48th minute. Kowalski kept Bridgewater within reach through a series of important stops, denying Rowan Sellers, Sami Seife and Sanchez before turning away Matthew Jenkins in the 61st minute.
• The Eagles answered in the 63rd minute. Following a Washington and Lee foul, Mongold connected with Queen, who finished at 62:05 to level the match at 1-1. The goal rewarded Bridgewater’s persistence and set up a tightly contested final stretch.
• Neither team found a winner as the second half produced 17 more fouls and four yellow cards. Polanco forced two saves just 36 seconds apart around the 80-minute mark before Kowalski denied Seife in the 82nd. The Eagles withstood late corners and consecutive Generals attempts in the 85th minute, while the game’s final caution came with just seven seconds remaining.
