AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — UPDATE: Mr. Fitzgerald has been safely located.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a search at the top of Shenandoah Mountain for a missing man.
Sheriff Donald Smith says there is a heavy police presence at The Confederate Breast Works, where they found the car of 33-year-old Scott Wayne Fitzgerald.
The Mount Sidney man was last seen on Friday, May 16 at his residence, but his vehicle was located at the overlook on top of the mountain.
At this time, the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office along with Highland County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, and Charlottesville Police Department and University of Virginia Police Department are actively searching Shenandoah Mountain for Fitzgerald.
