The ceremony is over – now it’s time for crews in Waynesboro to get to work on a new connector that will increase the city’s industrial real estate by 200 acres.
Ground was broken this morning on the Waynesboro Southern Corridor: a 1-point-6 mile roadway that is designed to help traffic flow on I-64, while improving access to housing and businesses in that part of the city.
Waynesboro Mayor Lana Williams said that the road was proposed 15 years ago, but is needed now more than ever with the population booming.
The Corridor will connect Shenandoah Village Drive, which currently dead-ends, with Lyndhurst Road and, ultimately, South Delphine Avenue. It is expected to open within two years.
