There’s no way out now – a pair of prominent drug companies and national pharmacy chains are about to pony up to pay for fanning the flames of the opioid crisis.
On Friday, Virginia attorney general Jason Miyares announced that a settlement has been approved between the commonwealth, drug makers Teva and Allergen and megapharmacies C-V-S and Walgreens for nearly 366 million dollars.
It’s part of a more than 17-billion-dollar settlement with a multitude of states that forces the companies to pay for predatory marketing and making opioid access too easy at their stores.
Miyares said Richmond should receive and begin distributing the money by the end of this year.
