RICHMOND, Va – The Virginia Lottery has released its report on sports wagering activity for December.

During that month, Virginians wagered over $633 million, which is nearly 26 percent more than last December.

Virginia bettors won nearly $560 million for a combined 10 percent operators win percentage.

State law places a 15 percent tax on sports betting activity based on each permit holder’s adjusted gross revenue.

That means nearly eight and a half million dollars in taxes were generated for the state with more than $211,000 of that going to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund Allocation.
