Commonwealth employers are still adding workers to their payrolls as the state set a new workforce record for the second straight month.

Yesterday, Governor Glenn Youngkin highlighted this month’s Local Area Unemployment Statistics survey which found that Virginia’s total workforce climbed nearly four thousand workers last month to more than 4-point-6 million.

In a release, the governor said that is once again the largest number of workers since counting began in 1976.

The labor force participation rate did not change from the August rate of just under 67 percent – the highest rate in nearly 11 years.

Virginia’s unemployment rate also remained unchanged at two-and-a-half percent.
