One area high school is turning to tech to stop students from vaping in the bathroom.

Across the mountain, Albemarle County High School recently turned nearly two dozen traditional restrooms into single-use, unisex stalls.

According to W-V-I-R, these stalls are equipped with sensors that can detect high levels of chemicals in the air. They’re also capable of picking up on “alarming” words, and can be triggered when decibels level in the stall are too loud.

The outlet reports that school administrators say the detectors have tripped over a dozen times since school began August 23rd.

In Virginia, using tobacco or nicotine products on school grounds is strictly prohibited.
