The Augusta County Board of Supervisors has voted to censure one of their own.

Chairman Michael Shull reading that resolution to censure Scott Seaton during last night’s meeting in Verona. The resolution passed on a 6-1 vote.

The board accused Seaton of secretly recording two years of closed sessions during board meetings, occasionally sharing that information with other members of the public.

Under Virginia law, documenting closed sessions is not a criminal offense. However, Seaton has been stripped of all committee assignments.

He will remain on the board as a Wayne District supervisor.
